How many characters does an emoji take up?

The size of an emoji varies by emoji. However, in general, you can assume an emoji will take up about 2 to 4 characters.

Why haven’t I received a “handset received” delivery receipt yet?

If you are missing just a few delivery receipts out of a large send, it is likely that the delay is due to either queuing issues on the carrier’s side or due to the handset being inaccessible, perhaps because it is in airplane mode or out of range. Keep in mind that carriers make their best effort to return delivery receipts, but that delivery receipts are usually put at a lower priority than other messages. Because of this, it can take up to 7 days for a delivery receipt to be returned.
